Theme Events Help Maintain Your Sanity

As many of you may know, I am not only a Wedding Planner but also an Event Planner.  I have planned everything from a small baby shower to large festivals and everything in between.  I always look forward to planning themed events.  I love taking every aspect of the event and putting it into different elements of the decor, the food, music, invitations, activities, etc... really the list goes on and on.

On average our company does about 100 events per year. Only about 34 of them typically are weddings. One reason, is weddings are much more time-consuming and emotionally taxing than other events.

Bigger Budgets

What I love about our theme events is that they usually have a larger budget for decor.  Which is typically required to carry out the theme, but it also has an entirely different feel when planning it.  They don't have a lot of family dynamics that affect the client planning it.  Most clients are open to "trying" out your suggestion, because why not?  There really isn't as much to risk as there is with a wedding.

Retakes

Another joy is planning theme events for our corporate clients.  Each year we try something a little different and make some adjustments and some tweaks and it is okay with them if they experiment because if they don't like how something turned out, they/we can try something else the next year.

This is obviously different than a wedding.  Everything is riding on that 1 day and we don't have the ability to say, well, if it doesn't turn out we can just do it again next year.

Restoring My Sanity

A big part of why I can continue to plan weddings for all this time is because I have mixed it in with other events.  Just when we come off of a really big wedding season, we plan a super fun themed Christmas Party, or New Year Party, or even an employee appreciation party.

Conclusion

The themed events get our minds off of all the drama that surrounded the wedding season and can get us renewed to start again.

If you are at a place where you think it would be good to add this service, watch for one of our Master Classes or theming workshops to help you develop this side of your business.

Even though it's Halloween, don't be scared, just try it what's the worst that can happen?

Now in the spirit of Halloween, I thought I would share some of my favorites Halloween quotes:

"There is a child in every one of us who is still a trick-or-treater looking for a brightly-lit front porch." —Robert Brault

"During the day, I don't believe in ghosts. At night, I'm a little more open-minded." —Unknown

“I'll stop wearing black when they make a darker color.” —Wednesday Addams, The Addams Family
