Getting The Business You Want

Can you identify the customer's problem

One of the 1st things you need to discover about your business is to know who you are trying reach. You may be thinking, if you advertise to everyone you are sure to get plenty of business. When you do this it is easy to send mixed messages to a wide range of people, you are more likely to get less business because you are not representing what you do and who you serve and how you can help those who need a Coordinator or Planner.

You have to think about it from your customers perspective. They are usually interested in a business's service because they have a problem or concern that needs solving. Your potential customers are looking for someone to solve their specific issue.

You may have beautiful photos, but they want someone to help them because their time is limited, or they have plenty of time to do DIY projects but wants someone to set it all up. What if they are just looking for an inexpensive Coordinator/Planner so they can tell their friends they have one?

How will they know that you can provide what they are looking for?

It's imperative that your brand identity immediately tells the customer how you can help them solve a problem. The problem(s) you solve needs to be the foundation of your "brand identity".

To help you identify your business foundations ask yourself the following questions:
  1. What is the mission of your business?
  2. Does your business specialize in something?
  3. Who do you want to serve?

Now don't make the mistake I see so often where people where you answer these questions and try to create something sound good.  Can you be raw in your answers and be totally honest with yourself?

You may answer the questions and say "Well right now I just want to make money and get into the business." GREAT! That is honest! Now you can develop your strategy so much easier because you know, you can charge less and you are okay with that just to get stated. Then as you grow your business, gain experience, and improve your skills, you can revisit these questions and begin to transform your business.
